Cocktail Club: Vodka Cop-Out

During all the time we’ve been doing Cocktail Club we’ve pretty much ignored vodka on account of it doesn’t really taste like anything. It certainly can be refreshing though, and with weather like this, refreshing is what you need.

Plus,we’ve got a billion choices of things that will make vodka taste GOOD (Rose, Kummel, apricot, bourbon, scotch, etc…)

So, there’s  my cop-out post on vodka – we have ways to make it way more interesting. Oh, and also – air-conditioning. Let’s say Thursday night, 6ish?

I pulled a fast one on some super nice folks who think I was a good candidate to bar cater a party thingy where I wear a tie and make drinks from the 1920s and not spill purple stuff on myself and others.

In honor of what I’m SURE will be a triumphant vest wearing, your loving caretakers will make you 1920s drinks as well. Why is that interesting? Well, ’cuz you couldn’t even drink in this country in the ’20s, much less invent. AaaaaHAAA!

Here’s a couple vintage cocktails that talented people who aren’t me will make for customers who are you:

SEELBACH: Bourbon, Cointreau, Bitters, Champaigne

TUXEDO #2: Gin, Maraschino, Orange Bitters

HOTEL NACIONALE: Rum, Pineapple, Lime, Apricot

It’s friggin’ NEGRONI WEEK.

There are literally eleventeen jillion cocktails we can make… And we can also make the real, original one: Gin, Carpano Antica, Campari. From there, replace Campari with Cynar. Or replace the Gin with Bourbon. Or replace the Gin with a rare Gin rested in Bourbon barrels. Or, uh, you know, other stuff.
